Trying out BlogPress iPhone app...

Test test? Do I like this thing? I paid $2 and change, so it'd be really nice if I liked it.

That's Peanut eating my glasses, by the way. He likes eating glasses.

In which I bitch about Blogger

Okay, seriously. Why does Blogger not yet have an app for the iPhone?

I know, I know...Google is launching some awesome gPhone or something, so they probably think Steve Jobs is the devil or something, but COME ON. Third party apps have been free and clear for a month! Wordpress has an app...and I've played with it here and there and it's not half bad. It would be so nice to be able to use my iPhone to publish a nice looking entry like this one instead of a funky-formatted mess like this one.

That is all.

Reblogging but seriously, this video is amazing.

First, go here to see this video that, admittedly, I totally just found because of Geekanerd. Sometimes I think about unsubscribing to Geekanerd, but then it throws me a gem or two. And good lord, what a freaking gem this is! The song itself is fantastic; but the VIDEO! Go look at it! Go look!

If you're lazy, here's the lower quality Youtube version:

I hope I'll always be a little girl on the inside.

Payroll and I went to see Wall-E tonight. We bought tickets from a scalper.

I liked it so much! I know it's silly but I cried in the middle and at the end. Sometimes I feel like I've been alone for 700 years, trying to make sense of all the strange things around me.

Most people act like I'm strange for liking cartoons so much. PDF outright says he thinks it's stupid. JH always yelled at me for watching Foster's at every opportunity. My mom teases me about it. I could tell that Payroll thought it was kind of funny that I wanted to go see that particular movie so bad. I could tell she was indulging me. She liked it quite a lot too though, and thanked me for begging her to come.

I can't believe I cried at two little robots dancing around in space! I'm such a girl sometimes.

I'm wearing my Pippi Longstocking tee shirt today too. I don't know why but I think that's significant to this post.

Update: I'm not the only one! The folks over at Geekanerd are all in love with Wall-E too! They even traced the design lineage for some of the characters! Check it out here.

Rakkasah! Also I am trying my damnedest to make a movie but it's not going so well.

As you may know, one of my side projects is acting as the unofficial ameteur videographer for The Squirrel Girls, my dance teacher's ATS troupe. I follow them around to shows, videotaping them, giggling with them, and generally having a good time. It's really fun, and it helps keep me on my toes, since it's raised my status from Squirrel-In-Training to Acorn. Mama Squirrel (teacher) has been paying extra attention in class to my form: "Arms up, Miss A!" "Lift your chest more!" "Relax your hands!"

This weekend I followed the Squirrels to New Brunswick, NJ for the Rakkasah Spring Caravan. The event was pretty big as belly dance conventions go, with lots and lots of cabaret and tribal fusion. I arrived by NJ Transit on Saturday with The Grecian and the Ballerina, as well as one of the other Acorns, M. The former two had to immediately dress for performance, so Acorn M and I did what relative newcomers to any hobby would do and giddily wandered through the sea of vendors.

I got stars in my eyes as I tried on giant antique Kuchi necklaces and Banjara belts adorned with Turkoman buttons and shisha mirrors. I wanted to dive into the piles of coins and bells and cowrie shells like Scrooge McDuck. Hand-Batiked skirts! Carved bone hairsticks! Assuit veils! Kuchi Pendants! Hair flowers and head wraps!

I didn't spend too much money, since I saved a little for this, but I did get some choice gear at reasonable prices! I'll be decked and ready to go for my upcoming performance. I'll be leading some improv!

The docu-promo-video-thingy is coming along too. It's still an amorphous idea right now, but at least I'm collecting footage and ideas. I think I finally figured out how to get the audio to convert properly now too..I'll find out for sure in a little while when I have a chance to look at the files on my Mac. I've been working with some footage from one of those mini-dvd camcorders (don't buy one if you like editing) and the process of converting the weird compression files to a usable format has been wreaking havoc on my brain and eating up my valuable and rare free time. Luckily I really like solving puzzles and figuring out how to solve problems with computery magic! Hopefully this time the spell works... These conversions are taking forever; if I have to try one more codec I'm going to have a tantrum and throw my slow-ass Dell out the window.

OMG $199!?!?!?

Goddammit!

The new 3G iPhone is coming out for the low low bargain price of $199, as compared to the lots-more-than-that that I paid for mine just four months ago. I'm pretty grumpy about that!

Still, at just $299 now I can afford to upgrade to a 16 gig, which is pretty cool! (but I probably won't until right before the next new version is announced. pfeh!)

Ooh, better battery life, which is my only complaint really! Ooh, apps, which I haven't been able to touch yet!

I haven't had a chance to really research yet, but I'm REALLY hoping for iChat or AIM, (which will probably follow in the iPhone app explosion to come). And I'm really REALLY hoping for a more powerful camera because, alas, I am a lazy lazy girl who loves to take pictures but hates dragging a camera around with her.

Would receiving pix messages be too much to ask? How about attaching more than one photo to an email? Maybe a copy paste function for Notes so that I can blog on the subway with greater ease?

Oooh, I can't wait until I have more time to read the dirt!

New Old Post, Weekend Antics, and a couple of Bandwagons

Hi, everybody! New post with old date here...you can read my account of a Saturday in the completely ridiculous meatpacking district. I wrote it on the subway on my iPhone and totally forgot about it until yesterday.

As for now, I'm being lazy and completely not profound. Although I did have a really fun weekend, despite a certain Producer canceling on our Coney Island plans. Here's the quick recap:

Friday - out of work early (only worked ten hours!!) and convinced the Art Shrew (she's really sweet, but don't cross her when she's working) to come to dinner with Payroll and me. We sauntered up to Chelsea, where we went to Elmo. The food was great! The drinks were even better! We saw our cute gay waiter's nipple!
Saturday - I met up for brunch at Tom's with fellow blogger Rebecca, who is so cool! Then I walked home in the rain and got really really soaked! Then I lounged around with the cats until my date. Then I went on the date--we went to a really great beer garden and a really weird concert!
Today I ran, went to dance class, then went out to the most awesomely obnoxious Tex-Mex joint for margaritas and guacamole with my friend the Grecian.

Whew! I think I might need to update my cast of characters.

While I'm at it, at Z's recommendation I joined this thing called All Mediocre. Check it out, it's funny and cute! Go put your blog on it! Then we can be mediocre together and revel in how completely we are under the radar.

Also I'm Twittering now. Why?

Because it's fun and addictive! It updates my Facebook status! It shows up on my blog! I can even put pictures on it! Neato! I can do it from my phone, which makes me able to share my fun while I'm having it in 140 characters or less! Tweet me @ http://twitter.com/MissAdventurous! Why?

Because you love me and you want to help me get lots of Twitter fans so that I get lots of blog fans so that I feel really really cool. Right? Right??

Yeah yeah, I'm a big ol' nerd... I never denied it, not once!
