I've been a little depressed lately. I've been really busy--insanely
busy--and had a cold-flu-thing during the last week of wrap on the
Rebound (the movie I was working on, not the possibly appropriate
other meaning of the term). Even so, I'm bored all the time. I feel
like my life is empty. I'm going through some married-life withdrawal,
some best friend withdrawal, some big sister withdrawal, and I'm
having a tough time feeling okay with being alone.
Depression is okay though, and it's a natural part of my life. I don't
particularly enjoy it, but at least I know it's only temporary. I go
through a rough spot every time I have a big change in my life. It's
like I mourn for my old life just a little.
This time it's a little awkward because I don't really wish I could be
back then again, even for the fun times. I just want to move on so
badly. I am misreading a lot of that sadness as having to do with more
recent and far more minor situations, and I'm letting little things
get me down.
But, like I said, it's temporary. And I can handle it. One of my
favorite techniques for coping with the blues is the "Never Say Die"
technique. Instead of letting my fears and troubles paralyze my life,
I suck it up and pretend to be brave. It's not really an act of
denial so much as one of training. I'm getting my mind used to being
happy and carefree so that it will become like brushing my teeth;
automatic and incredibly pleasant.
Which reminds me; I need to buy some dental floss on my way home! I
ran out last night!
So I'm getting out and doing stuff, even though the Grecian has been
in Greece and Payroll left me for Mexico. Even though other friends
are always so busy. I continue to talk to the bar guy (not the
bartender), I also met a very nice girl who wants to see me again real
soon. And Saturday I'm being taken out by a very funny, very cute
fella to a bar that is filled with arcade games! Awesome!
Huh. Now that I mention it I'm actually feeling kind of enthusiastic
about that last one.
See? The training is paying off!

Maybe we should tattoo that slogan on my ankle? It has seriously had me in the dumps this week and I have been having a pity party for myself. Beers will help though! See you soon.
