I have advanced in the food chain! I am no longer a production
assistant! I'm a production secretary!
It's not my dream job but it sure is a big deal that I moved up so
quickly in the game. And it's a great way to learn a lot more about a
lot more. And the extra $100 in my weekly rate helps A LOT...I really
need it. And I also get a kit rental fee for using my stuff! Hooray!
I never expected (but I certainly hoped, Salty!) to break loose from
P.A. life so quickly! Aunt J called it a 'meteoric rise.' Well I don't
know about that, but when you get down to brass tax, this is really
only my second show. Aaaand it's a big one! It's an indie but it plays
like a big guy; big names, big budget, big effects... We're building
an entire ship on a sound stage! Exciting!
Now I just have to do a really really good job and think long and hard
about where I want to go from here. I've been thinking a lot about
production supervising and management...and kicking around the idea of
getting involved with media other than live action film. But we'll
see. Maybe I'll make it into the DGA trainee program (I'm still
applying). Maybe I'll float into something else. The problem isn't so
much that I don't know what I want to do, it's that I want to do it all!
