I'm more inclined to write as prolifically as I once did. Who knows,
maybe that'll work out, maybe it won't, but I figure it's worth a shot.
I originally slowed down the blog machine because I was writing so
personally and I got involved with someone (surprise!) I didn't really
want to write about. I got burned on that before, so I figured it
would be best to lay low. Surprise, it didn't really pan out--although
I kind of didn't plan for it to anyway, so I don't know what I made
such a fuss about. Anyway, I've got plenty of other stuff going on.
The Peanut has arrived, which is a joy I can barely contain! I'm
positively in love with Salty's little son and I'm trying to be the
best auntie ever by starting a 529 plan to make sure he doesn't have
to endure the student loan hell that I know and do not love so well. I
don't have much to give this year, but hopefully he'll forgive my lame
gifts of 529 contributions in lieu of toys for many birthdays and
Christmases to come. He'll appreciate them when he's 21 and about to
graduate!
One of the many reasons I don't have much to give is that I got canned
from a film gig for the first time. Now as far as I (and many others,
for that matter) can tell, I did nothing wrong and was doing a pretty
good job, but my work style didn't gel with my boss and she had
someone else she wanted to bring on to the job, so more power to her.
It's lame, but in a way I'm glad. I got a little extra time out of the
deal, and I'm hopeful I can move on to something in the new year that
will work out better for me! We'll see... I've got a lot of people
behind me who are willing to help me out--including, so she says, the
boss that did the canning. I also made some new friends out of the
deal and got to experience a work style very different from what I'm
used to, so it's not so bad!
I'm also applying to the DGA Training Program this coming year. For
those that don't know, this is one of those many-will-play-few-will-
win sorts of things. If chosen from a huge pool of applicants I will
endure a pay cut, even longer hours than I've been working, physical
and mental demands that are rigorous by any standards (especially
given the lack of sleep I'll be getting), and my social life? Kiss it
goodbye! Ahhhh...can't wait! I hope I get in! If you know me, you know
I'll thrive under the challenge!
Meanwhile I'm training myself to wake up with one alarm on the first
try. It's slow going, but it will make mornings a lot more pleasant!
