Kay. I'm gonna geek out on running for a minute.

In high school I raced a lot of 5Ks, or 3.1 milers. In grown-up land I've run a couple 5 milers, a small handful of 5Ks, and my longest achievement was a 10K for which I barely trained, running 10:40 splits and coming in just over an hour. My high school PR (personal record) for a 5K race was 28:26, which works out to about a 9:29 pace. So imagine my excitement a few weeks ago at the Henry Isola Classic, a 4 mile race in the Bronx, when I ran 9:27 miles and finished under 38 minutes. That was huge for me, a dozen years after my high school record!

Imagine my surprise when I glanced at my watch at the 2 mile mark of my first half marathon and saw that I was running an 8:40 pace! Imagine my surprise when I sustained this pace for another three miles!!
