My grandfather taught me the importance of being able to build and fix things yourself. He taught me that catching a fish is not the only reason to go fishing. He taught me that living simply can be relaxing and rewarding. He was so often joyful. He loved his big family, he loved having kids around, he loved serious conversation and light chatting and silly joking. He made the best of everything he was given.
And he died today. Easter Sunday, the day Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. A day meant for sunshine and daffodils and sweet treats and children playing and celebrating with loved ones. I can't think of a more appropriate day for him to go.
